Area of a Parallelogram

A leaning rectangle, basically. Once you see that you can cut a triangle off one end and slide it across, the formula gives itself away — and the rest of the area family follows.

1Where it comes fromShear it, then straighten it into a rectangle. Same area. 2How to do itBase × perpendicular height, with a practice generator. 3Where it gets trickyThe slant side is a trap — only the upright height counts. 4Out in the wildA leaning garden bed, and working backwards to a missing height.
